This extension is the official top level domain of Luxembourg.
There is no specific procedure related to the registration of a domain name.
.LU domain names are allocated on a "first come, first served" basis.
In order to proceed with a transfer, the domain name’s administrative contact must approve the request to the registry by email. Ensure that his e-mail address defined for the domain is valid.
Steps:
The registry will contact the administrative contact to request his approval by e-mail, with a link to a secure web page:
Once the transfer has been finalized, the domain name's expiration date is extended for a one year period starting from the date of the end of transfer.
Domain names in quarantine status
When a domain name is in the quarantine status, it becomes inaccessible for forty days. The only one who can reactivate the name is the registrar who put it in quarantine. However, the domain name holder can also have the domain transferred to a new registrar initiating a transfer from quarantine. Then the domain name will be transferred and reactivated in the same operation.
Transfer with change of registrant
It is possible to trade the domain name with a change of registrar.

Each action on a domain name is managed in our system with an operation. Here are the types of operations supported by this extension. Please note that you can use these operations with our SOAP and REST APIs.
