Extensions management

Netim provides more than 1,000 domain name extensions / tlds that can be sold with HostBill.

Each extension you want to resell has to be added in the application with some parameters.

You can add extensions at Settings > Products & Services

Individual settings of an extension

When adding or managing an extension by hand, you must understand all parameters and know expected values relative to that extension. Even if all gTlds work the same (due to the ICANN rules), most of all ccTlds have specific settings.

  1. Learn more about the extension you want to add
Browse the extension list and read the extension documentation, for example .com domains.
  2. Add new product or edit an existing one from your order page for domain service
  3. General settings (in tab “General”)
In the extension documentation, look at Registration Period  and Renewal Period value which define the years available on this extension and add the corresponding pricing options
    • You can get a range (minimum – maximum):
      1-10 means 1 to 10 years
      2-2 means 2 years only
    • You can get a list (1:2:3:…)
      1:3:5 means 1 or 3 or 5 years
      1-5:10 means 1 to 5 years and 10 years
    • For transfers, the operation can renew for one year the domain name. See Renewal during transfer. In addition, the transfer can be free of charge or paid. Thus, if the transfer is free of charge, set the 1 year period for free too. Otherwise, you will charge your customer without an effective renewal.

  4. Registrar settings (in tab “Registrar”)
    • Select netim_com in the App dropdown in order to define Netim as the default registrar for registrations and transfers
    • Select the App connection in order to define the reseller account to be used
    • Define the Required EPP for transfers. This feature defines if the extension supports EPP code for domain transfers between registrars. In the extension documentation, look at EPP / Authorization code if available or not for the extension.

  5. Automation (in tab “Automation”)
In the extension documentation, look at Renewal delay after expiration and Restore delay after deletion values which define respectively the domain grace period and the domain redemption period. Fill in the corresponding fields
  6. Components (in tab “Components”)
In this section, you will need to add the domain additional fields if the extension support them. See domain additional fields management.
  7. Lookup settings (in tab “Lookup settings”)
In this section, you can define how the domain name availability check will be performed. The default settings are mostly correct.
However if you want to improve the domain lookup or support extensions that are not defined by default in Hostbill, see Domain availability check.
