Manage renewals and restores
About the domain life cycle
As a first step, we encourage to learn more about the domain name life cycle in general.
Netim manages four key dates for domain names concerning their renewal and expiration process.
- The minimum date before renewal
This is the date from which the renewal can be ordered before the expiration date.
Some extensions allow from 1 month to several years prior expiry. - The expiration date of the domain name
Once the expiration is over, the expiration process begins. - The maximum renewal date before the deletion
This is the deadline to renew the domain name.
It is calculated from the expiration date + the renewal grace period allowed by the registry.
If there is no renewal grace period, the expiration date is the maximum renewal date.
Once the maximal renewal date is over, the domain is deleted. - The maximum restoration date
This is the ultimate deadline to restore the domain name and keep it registered.
It is calculated from the deletion date + the quarantine / redemption period allowed by the registry.
If there is no quarantine / redemption period, the domain is not restorable.
Once the maximum restoration date is over, the domain name enters the release process in order to be made available again for registration

The life cycle and the calculation of the different dates above depend from the extension of the domain name.

Domain name renewal
It is possible to renew a domain name:
- from the minimum date before renewal
- to the maximum renewal date (9pm Paris time)
The renewal will be charged with the regular renewal price (premium price if any) + trustee service fee (if any) + local contact fee (if any).
Domain name restore
It is possible to restore a domain name:
- if a quarantine or a redemption period is allowed by the registry
- from the maximum renewal date (9pm Paris time)
- to the maximum restoration date
The restore will be charged with the regular restore price (premium price if any) + trustee service fee (if any) + local contact fee (if any). Please note that the restore pricing is in general much more expensive than a regular renewal. This operation is charged at an higher price by registries and it is out of our control.
