1 Connect your domain name to Shopify via DNS pointing

To link your domain name purchased from Netim to your website created on Shopify, you need to modify the DNS records of your domain in your Netim Direct client account. Your DNS records will remain hosted with Netim, but your domain name will point to your Shopify website. Your Netim email addresses as well as DNSSEC will remain active.

Step 1 on Netim : Update your DNS records

To associate your domain name with your Shopify website, you first need to update the DNS records (CNAME, AAAA, and A records) of your domain within your Netim Direct client area. To do this:

Go to Shopify’s tutorial to retrieve the necessary values for the DNS records
In a new tab, log in to your Netim Direct account
In the Domains menu, click on My domains
Click on the domain name you wish to link to your Wix site
In the My domain name configuration window, click on Zone file

Click on the Create a new record button, and select CNAME from the drop-down list
Complete the form with the information provided on the Shopify guide:
In the Name field, enter ‘www’, then in the Target field, enter the value specified by Shopify
Check the information, then click on Confirm

Again, click on the Create a new record button, and select A from the drop-down list
Complete the form with the information provided on the Shopify guide:
In the Name field, enter ‘@’, then in the Target field, enter the value specified by Shopify
Check the information, then click on Confirm

A third time, click on the Create a new record button, and select AAAA from the drop-down list
Complete the form with the information provided on the Shopify guide:
In the Name field, enter ‘@’, then in the Target field, enter the value specified by Shopify
Check the information, then click on Confirm

Important ⚠️

You should only have one CNAME record, one A record and one AAAA record for this to work.
If other records of these types are already present, please remove them.

Step 2 on Shopify: Adding your domain

To finalise the association of your domain name with your Shopify website, you need to connect your domain in your Shopify admin interface. To do this, you can follow the steps provided in Shopify’s tutorial, or as outlined below:

From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains
Click Connect existing domain
In the Domain field, enter your domain, such as mysuperwebsite.com, and then click Next
Click Connect domain

Domain verification can take up to 48 hours. After it’s verified, your domain is listed in the Domain section of the Domains page with the status Connected.

When you sign up for Shopify, your primary domain is by default in the format mysuperwebsite.myshopify.com. Once your Netim domain is connected (status Connected), you can set it as your primary domain as follows:

From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains
Click the domain that you want to make the primary domain
Click Change domain type
Select Primary domain
Click Change domain type to save
