Improve your account security

The security of your Netim Direct account is a priority. Sensitive data such as your bank details is stored in your account. To help you keep track, we have developed a security gauge that indicates your account level of security.

This indicator is based on whether or not you have activated the various security features we offer: passkeys, login alerts, password updates, IP restriction or two-factor authentication.
To make sure your account is secure:

  1. Log in to your Netim Direct account
  2. Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen
  3. Select “Login and Security
  4. The security level can be found above the “Security” block

Passkeys

Setting up a passkey represents the highest level of security for protecting your Netim Direct account. A passkey is a private key system that replaces or complements your usual password. It is stored on your device and secured through biometric methods (fingerprint, facial recognition) or a PIN.

To set up one or more passkeys:

    1. Log in to your Netim Direct account
    2. Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen
    3. Select “Login and security
    4. In the “Passkeys” section, click on the “Add a Passkey” button.
    5. Give a name to your passkey, then click “Next”
    6. A pop-up window will appear in your browser, asking you to select where to store your new passkey. This could be your browser’s password manager or your device’s built-in security system (e.g., Windows Hello on a PC or iCloud Keychain on Apple devices). Depending on your device, the passkey may be secured using biometrics (fingerprint or facial recognition) or a PIN.
    7. Select the desired type of passkey and follow the instructions provided by your browser or device.
    8. Once your passkey is saved to your Netim Direct account, you can choose to enable an option that restricts account access exclusively to this passkey. This will raise your account security level to “VERY STRONG”

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication or 2FA protects your account and your personal information. In addition to your password, a security code generated by a 2FA application on your smartphone (or your computer) will be required to log into your account.

This process will prevent any unauthorised person from logging into your account.

  1. Log in to your Netim Direct account
  2. Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen
  3. Select “Connection and Security
  4. Click “Enable” on the two-factor authentication line
Enable 2FA

There are 3 steps to set up 2FA:

  1. The installation of a 2FA application
  2. The verification of the configuration
  3. The generation of backup codes in case a problem occurs with your application

Configuring your two-factor authentication application

Here are the main ones depending on your OS:

Once the application is installed, add a new entry by clicking on the + icon of your application (Google Authenticator). Then, scan the QRCode displayed on the screen or manually enter the key just above the QRCode (it’s possible to copy the key in the clipboard simply by clicking on it).

Checking the configuration

In order to verify that the application has been properly configured, you will be asked to enter the token generated by your application (6 digits).

Generating backup codes

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is now enabled on your account.

The backup codes will allow you to log in if you lose your smartphone, for example. We recommend that you save or print them out and keep them in a secure location.

Enable two factor authentification

Add a new device

  1. Go to the “Connection and Security” page
  2. Click on the + icon and scan the QRCode with the device you want to grant access to.

How to use backup codes

In case of a temporary or permanent loss of access to your account, you will have to enter one of your backup codes (6 digits) instead of the code provided by the application in order to log in.

IP restriction

IP restriction is designed to strengthen the security of your account by limiting access to an IP address or range.

To activate it:

  1. Log in to your Netim Direct account
  2. Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen
  3. Select “Login and security
  4. In the “Security” window, next to the “IP Restriction” option, click on the “Change” button

  5. Enter the IP address or range you wish to use to access your account

  6.  Click on the “Confirm” button.

Emergency email

If the user no longer has access to the primary email address associated with their Netim Direct account and has forgotten their password, they can request a password reset to be sent to their emergency email address. To ensure this works, the backup email must be different and, most importantly, not on the same domain name.

To add a backup email address:

  1. Log in to your Netim Direct account
  2. Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen
  3. Select “Login and security
  4. In the “Security” window, next to the “Emergency email” option, click the “Change” button.
  5. Check the box “Use as emergency email address”, and enter the desired address in the corresponding field.
  6. Click on the “Confirm” button.

Anti-phishing protection

This setting allows the user to define a unique word or phrase that will be displayed in the top-right corner of all official Netim emails. The presence of this code ensures that the email is genuinely from Netim and not a phishing attempt.

To enable this setting:

  1. Log in to your Netim Direct account
  2. Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen
  3. Select “Login and security
  4. In the “Security” window, next to the “Anti-Phishing Protection” option, click the “Change” button.
  5. Check the box “Use the following code”, and enter the desired code in the corresponding field.
  6. Check “Send a test email” if you want to receive a preview of the anti-phishing protection code.
  7. Click on the “Confirm” button.
